“Dad’s Final Message”
The room was quiet.
Only the soft sound of rain tapping against the window could be heard.
A weak man in his 30s sat alone in front of a camera.
His face looked pale.
Tired.
Fragile.
But despite the pain in his eyes… he smiled softly.
In his hands, he held a small wrapped gift box with faded handwriting on top:
“Happy 18th Birthday.”
He looked directly into the camera lens as if he was trying to memorize the face of someone he loved more than life itself.
“Hi sweetheart…” he whispered weakly.
“It’s Dad.”
His voice trembled slightly.
“If you are watching this video… it means I couldn’t stay long enough to see you grow up.”
He paused and looked down for a moment, trying not to cry.
Soft acoustic guitar music played quietly in the background.
“But I need you to know something…”
The father smiled through watery eyes.
“The day you were born… was the happiest day of my life.”
He slowly opened the small gift box and revealed a beautiful silver locket.
“I wanted to give this to you myself one day…”
His breathing became heavier.
“But life had different plans.”
The camera slightly shook as he coughed painfully.
Yet he continued speaking.
“There will be days when you feel alone.”
“There will be moments when the world feels unfair.”
“But every time you feel like giving up…”
He lifted the silver locket toward the camera.
“…open this.”
Inside the locket was a tiny photo.
A picture of him holding his baby daughter for the first time.
“And remember…”
“You were always loved.”
Tears rolled down his cheeks now.
“I won’t be there for your first heartbreak…”
“For your graduation…”
“Or to walk you down the aisle someday…”
His voice completely broke.
“But no matter where I am…”
“I will always be your Dad.”
The screen glitched slightly.
The recording timestamp showed:
Then—
The scene suddenly changed.
A dark bedroom.
A teenage girl sat alone on her bed, crying silently while the glow of a laptop screen reflected across her tear-stained face.
In her hands…
The same silver locket.
She held it tightly against her chest as the old video continued playing.
“…I have been watching over you every single day,” her father’s voice echoed from the laptop.
“I am so proud of you.”
“Happy 18th Birthday, my angel.”
The girl covered her mouth trying not to sob.
“I love you too, Dad…” she whispered toward the screen.
The emotional music swelled powerfully.
Then slowly faded into silence.
But suddenly—
Her expression changed.
Confused.
She noticed something strange on the laptop screen.
A reflection behind her father in the old video.
A shadow.
Someone standing in the doorway twelve years ago.
Watching him record the message.
The girl slowly paused the video.
Her hands shaking.
Then she zoomed in.
And her blood turned cold.
The shadow figure…
was holding a knife.
